The CSL Behring Nordic von Willebrand Scholarship
The CSL Behring Nordic von Willebrand Scholarship was established in 2004 in order to support research and development within the field of von Willebrand Disease (VWD) in the Nordic region.

In 2008 the scholarship was shared between:
Dr. Mattias Karlman, Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset Solna, Sweden, for the project
"New methods for measurement of the functionality of von Willebrand factor in patients with increased bleeding tendency"
and
Petra Elfvinge, Karolinska Universtietssjukhuset Solna, Sweden, for the project
"Health-related quality of life in women with heavy menstrual bleeding"

In 2006 the scholarship was shared between:
Prof.Jørgen Ingerslev, University Hospital Skejby, Denmark, for the project:
”Development of luminographic method for detection and qualitative evaluation of von Willebrand factor in blood plasma”
and
Elsa Lanke, Malmö University Hospital, Sweden, for the project:
"Analysis of the N1421K mutation in the A1 domain of the von Willebrand factor gene"
In 2004 Prof. Stefan Lethagen, Malmö University Hospital, Sweden, received the scholarship for the project:
"Genetic characterization of von Willebrand disease type 1: Finding additional loci and tracing the evolutionary history of the von Willebrand factor gene region"
Announcement and Applications
The scholarship is awarded every second year and announced at the Nordic Coagulation Meeting the preceding year. The next announcement will take place in 2009 for the award in 2010. Please see under the News section for the announcement with application details.
All applications are reviewed by a scientific committee consisting of three coagulation experts from the Nordic Region and one representative from CSL Behring AB.
